Toby McLaughlin is a Sandpoint native and 1992 graduate of Sandpoint High who came home in late 2006 to join Bill Berg in the new law firm, Berg, McLaughlin & Nelson, Chtd.
After earning his law degree and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Oregon in 2002, he joined Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. There he focused on real estate law, civil litigation, creditor’s rights and white collar criminal defense.
Toby now heads the litigation practice at Berg, McLaughlin & Nelson, involving civil litigation, criminal defense, real estate law, family law, personal injury, contract disputes and small business issues. He is licensed to practice in state and federal courts in Idaho and Washington and in the courts of the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
Prior to entering law school, Toby earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Idaho and worked as a systems engineer at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL).
He is interested in all things outdoors – skiing, wakeboarding, hiking, camping, soccer, biking, and traveling. Toby lives in Sandpoint and enjoys the company of old friends and his busy family. Toby is married to Sandpoint native Michael McLaughlin. She teaches special education at Washington Elementary School in Sandpoint, Idaho.
